Traveling without Traveling

This last year I have gone on a musical journey and explored several new genres from diverse regions around the world.

My curiosity for international music comes from my dad. Growing up he had a very eclectic taste in music and a CD collection in his car to match. He used to have this one Spanish Guitar album that I probably listened to 100 times. Then when I was in middle school he got more into Cafe Del Mar, and by high school, him and I went to a Thievery Corporation concert together.

One thing that I find so beautiful about international music is all the different languages spoken. When you don’t understand a language you don’t get distracted by the words, but rather you hear the words as if they were an instrument to a song. So often, I find myself singing along with the lyrics and I have no idea what they are saying, but it just feels right.

Below is a playlist that will take you on a musical journey around the world. I’ve also put a lot of thought into the order of these songs so I encourage you to listen to this playlist in order. The first song will set the mood and from there it will be an experience. Expect mellow intro vibes, beautiful Spanish songs, a good amount of Alte music, dancy afrobeat tracks, and it ends with some tracks that don’t fit any particular genre.

I don’t know if you get chills when certain songs come on but there are so many gems in this playlist that cause an overwhelming body feel.
